On July 24, 2023, VNU-CEA
organized the opening ceremony of the international training course in
designing program in accordance with outcome-based education for assessors and
lecturers of Vietnam and Laos. This is an activity under the Project “Constructive
Alignment and Technology-Enhanced Outcome-Based Education: Quality Assurance
for Continuing Quality Improvement (CATE)”, sponsored by The International
Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE), a
cooperation between VNU-CEA and The Center for Academic Parterships and
Engagement - CAPE of the University of Nottingham - Malaysia and National University
of Laos.
The trainees
participating in the training course are assessors and lecturers from National
University of Laos, 09 VNU’s member universities and schools, 03 Regional
Universities, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Van Lang University,
Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, etc. The Opening Ceremony was held online via
the MS Teams platform. Attending the opening ceremony, on the side of the VNU-CEA, there was Dr.
Ta Thi Thu Hien – Director; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Toan - Deputy Director,
Chairman of Education Accreditation Council. On the side of the expert team,
there was Assoc. Prof. Dr. ROZILINI M FERNANDEZ-CHUNG PFHEA and Dr. RANJIT
SINGH GILL - representatives from the University of Nottingham, Malaysia; Assoc.
Dr. Pham Van Tuan - University of Science and Technology (The University of Da
Nang), the representative from Vietnam.

Speaking at this event,
on behalf of the VNU-CEA, Dr. Ta Thi Thu Hien affirmed that this training
course is the beginning of a series of international quality assurance
activities that VNU-CEA participates in in order to exchange experiences and
contribute to the development of domestic and international quality assurance
systems, towards the international standards defined in the VNU-CEA's mission
and vision.
Dr. Ta Thi Thu Hien also
emphasized that, in addition to the purpose of learning and sharing
experiences, this training course is an opportunity to connect and build a
network between experts and stakeholders who share the same interests and
passion for quality assurance in higher education. The organization of
intensive training on designing training programs, according to OBE is
important in ensuring the quality of training programs, helping lecturers and assessors
with knowledge and experience to perform the tasks of quality assurance and
quality accreditation of training programs and educational institutions.
Immediately after the
opening, the training activities of the course were implemented as planned.
Lecturers throughout the course are experts from the University of Nottingham,
Malaysia and Vietnam.
The training is held from July 2023 to April
2024, divided into 2 phases. In phase 1, the course focuses on training for
source students (online) to support and develop the system at educational
institutions. After that, phase 2 will conduct a performance evaluation and
continue training with project experts (face-to-face).
